Just a quick update on the Doppler appointment yesterday. So if you're behind on what's going on, we had tried to hear the heartbeat with the Doppler last week at my appointment with the midwife. I was 11 weeks and it was supposed to be a 12 week visit (another long story), but we tried to do it and couldn't find the heartbeat. She said that we could either come back in a week to try again or have an ultrasound if we were worried that we couldn't hear it.
I was fine with going back in a week because I knew nothing was wrong. I just figured that since I was only 11 weeks and it could have been Baby's position or my uterus' position we would try again another time. I was talking to Phil about it after that appointment and saying that if I was one of those neurotic new moms who gets worried about every little thing I would probably be freaking out that we couldn't find it. He was like, "I don't even see why we have to go back next week. We already saw the heartbeat on the ultrasound...."
Hahahah....oh Hubby. I thought that was funny. I was like, "Babe that was like 3 weeks ago! And besides, we didn't get to hear the heartbeat, we just saw it on the screen." At that point I realized that he was kinda right in a way cause it hadn't been that long. For me, I guess it was just a "right of passage" to hear the heartbeat on the Doppler, so I told him that and he understood.
Anyway, short story long, we went to the Birth Center and talked with the Midwife for a little bit. She stuck the wand on my belly and within probably 10 seconds the heartbeat was clearly audible! It was so cool! It was totally worth it for me to go back just to hear that. (Normal heart rate too) I'm sure Phil enjoyed it to some extent but he was getting over food poisoning so he wasn't feeling good. Yeah, he got food poisoning on our Anniversary, but that's another story!
I don't like having posts with just writing. It seems a little boring/overwhelming to me so I try to include pictures when I can. Here are some random pictures of me trying on maternity clothes with the fake belly on. I was only 6 weeks at the time so it was a really weird feeling to have that belly on knowing that was my fate. I loved these two shirts too but my goodness....can you say expensive? They were even on sale and I wouldn't have bought them.
Cool that you got to hear the heartbeat! If anything it gives you a peace of mind!!! It is a neat sound also!
ReplyDeleteLove the fake belly! lol There are plenty of cheaper maternity cloths out there. I don't blame you for not wanting to spend a lot on them. Just remember to buy the tops so you have plenty of growing room. That way you don't have to keep buying new ones.
So excited for you!! I say buy some really pretty clothes you will love bc there will be days you will need them. I remembered my Mom bought me two beautiful dresses that I thought she paid to much for, but those dresses became special to me bc I felt pretty on days I longed to feel pretty. Besides... You will want to wear them again!! :)
