I forgot to write about my big maternity buy this week! I actually have a few. The biggest one was a nice, warm, affordable, maternity coat! I'll be most pregnant exactly during winter so I knew that I needed a really good coat that could last all winter. I was a little worried I wouldn't be able to find one for a decent price.
I was actually searching for used ones on Craigslist and finding absolutely nothing when I came across an advertisement for an all maternity consignment shop in Richfield. So I thought they might have used winter coats and it was worth a look. Boy was I right! I found a knee length, black, down, Motherhood Maternity winter coat that retails around $150-$200.
I got it for $31.
I know right! It was awesome. I also got an amazing pair of maternity jeans that actually stay up for $11 and two long sleeve Old Navy shirts for $7 each. It was a very successful trip to say the least.
My next buy will be some really good winter boots. I have no good footwear for winter and if I'm 7-9 months pregnant in the dead of winter I'm gonna want a good boot that has tread and is really warm. I was with Victoria that particular day and we thought we would go to Kohls to see if they had any winter boots.
They didn't have any, but I decided to look at bras while I was there. About 2 months ago I threw away all my bras and bought 3 new ones. My old ones were really worn and no longer fitting with the increasing size of my bust, but after only 2 months my 3 new ones were also not longer fitting. Not only did they not fit, but they were extremely uncomfortable. Like I'm talking miserably uncomfortable to the point where I dreaded putting one on each day.
So there we were in Kohls browsing through the plethora of bras, 99% of which were not even close to my size. I really wanted something without underwire which was hard to come by in a DDD-E. (Yes, you read right) So I'm just grabbing anything that might be close to my size, and of course Vic threw in a "just try this one because it would be funny cause it's so ginormous."
Well, I came out of the dressing room with a sad look on my face. Not because I hadn't found anything, but because I had....I believe my exact words were, "They're soooooo comfortable, but they have FOUR clasps! I've never had a bra with FOUR clasps!" We laughed, and I also had to tell her that the "funny" one actually fit me and was quite comfortable. It was a sad day as I bought my, as I call them, Granny Bras.
My Granny Bras have literally changed my life. I kid you not.
Embrace the granny bras... it is hard to let them go! A friend of mine posted on FB not long ago something along the lines of "Remember when you would see your mom in the Platex bra and full size brief and say 'that'll never be me'?... and now you look in the mirror and see her looking back at you. "
ReplyDeleteIf you plan on nursing full time, your chest will get bigger. There's a reason why they are nicknamed "melons". LOL
